The Amarillo Museum of Art invites you to join us for the annual Ladd Lecture on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. This free and popular event is made possible by the generosity of Peggy Ladd and her late husband Frank A. Ladd. The Ladd Lecture is an ongoing series of lectures by distinguished experts from across the United States with a focus toward a greater understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts.

That 1870s Show: The Impressionist Revolution

Step back in time and experience Impressionism as the provocative, subversive, and defiant production of a renegade group of contemporary artists. Join Dr. Nicole Myers, curator of The Impressionist Revolution from Monet to Matisse exhibition currently on view at the Dallas Museum of Art, as she explores the Impressionist revolution that scandalized Paris and set the course for modern art in the 1870s and beyond.

Dr. Nicole R. Myers

is Chief Curatorial and Research Officer and The Barbara Thomas Lemmon Senior Curator of European Art, at the Dallas Museum of Art. Since joining the DMA in 2016, she has curated/co-curated numerous exhibitions, including Van Gogh and the Olive Groves (2021–2022); Cubism in Color: The Still Lifes of Juan Gris (2021); and Berthe Morisot, Woman Impressionist (2018–2019). Myers previously held curatorial positions at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Saint Louis Art Museum. She completed her MA and PhD in Art History at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University.
